Singing in the Rain

It's tough. Pandemics. Murders. Injustice. World-wide Protests. The weight of it all can bring the strongest person to their knees. But, we can't... we won't fall to our knees because as leaders, THEY are watching. Who on earth are the invisible 'theys'? Your children, spouse, family, friends, neighbors, church family, co-workers... 'they' are watching and 'they' are everywhere.

True leaders have heavily laden shoulders. They not only experience the burdens of being a member of society, a business, or an organization, but they also carry the responsibility of leadership...helping others to navigate through the murky waters of life. Finding our way down a path that is sometimes very dark, very scary, and very sad. But fear not, because as a leader who is grounded in the Spirit, you know you are not alone. You can see the Light.

The fog is dispelled, the darkness is illuminated and the heaviness of life becomes lighter as you power your way through, leading the charge and inspiring those who follow to have faith in the right thing because it is the right thing to do. But what is the right thing to do? Generally speaking, if you feel anxiety, can't sleep, can't settle that uneasy feeling in your soul - you're likely headed down the wrong path. But, if you feel peace, even when it's scary or out of character; even when it's mystifying - even to you; even when you don't have all the answers (because your crystal ball is in the shop), you can rest assured that the joy in your heart, the excitement in your spirit and the peace in your soul are signs that you are on the right path.

So, put away your umbrella, turn to your people, smile and let them know that the sun will return but in the meantime we need to plant good seed and take advantage of the rain.
